The Gall-Peters projection

Apparently, the map commonly used (known as Mercator projection) distorts the land areas of the countries near the equator. Greenland which looks like the size of Africa is actually fourteen times smaller in actuality. The Gall-Peters projection is an attempt to correct some of these common misconceptions, but it has its own accuracy problems.
